Wood St Coffee
In the summer of 2013, Wood St Coffee started as a weekly pop up at Wood Street Market. In 2015, owners Gareth and Tim Choi met through a mutual friend. With a shared enthusiasm for speciality coffee, the pair joined forces and began roasting together. The combination of Tim’s roasting and green coffee experience, combined with Gareth’s know-how in running a cafe business made for swift growth. George Bickersteth joined as production roaster in 2019, later stepping up to head roaster.
Wood St Coffee is proud to serve and sell single-origin speciality coffee. To be considered 'specialty', coffee must be sustainably sourced, harvested responsibly and roasted with care which is the way Wood St Coffee brought to you. Wood St coffee tastes of red berries, chocolate, or aniseed. These are ‘tasting notes’, similar to those used in wine, are used to describe the subtle flavours you can detect in your coffee. This is part of the third wave of coffee, which considers coffee as an artisanal foodstuff rather than a commodity.
Wood St Coffee’s specialty coffee beans are selected, processed and extracted to the highest possible standard, so that you can taste the full depth of flavour of the bean. And because they are lightly roasted, they are sweeter, smoother and more delicate.
